Social problems that have a tremendous impact on human development
and advancement are too often overlooked. These problems could be addressed
through anthropological
research that can help us understand the human condition and social problems,
and thus obtain actionable insights into everyday human challenges.
My name is Miguel Angel Davila, and I have launched a community
platform that functions as an anthropology think tank based in New York City.
The purpose of this platform is to define, gather, and analyze data that can
provide insights into these neglected social issues. The platform offers
valuable content, subscriptions, and membership fees.
This business model is unique in that it is the first
for-profit human-policy think tank that does not focus exclusively on economics
and offers educational programs to businesses through e‑learning platforms and
consultative services. Businesses can purchase access to proprietary
anthropological data collected via the platform, which includes a public
knowledge base comprising essays and literature reviews. Additionally. users
are invited to contribute to the platform. Thus, the platform facilitates
research about the community that involves the community and is produced by the
community. Research participants can earn $8 for each survey they complete.
Our
unique anthropology-research community platform offers a premium, proprietary,
human‑managed, highly-niche product to our members. Our premium pricing model
ensures that all our products and services support our mission and further
promote social responsibility.
Our
mission is to benefit the human community in New York City and beyond.
The Viscardi Center, an internationally recognized nonprofit providing a lifespan of programs and services that educate, employ, and empower children and adults with disabilities, is hosting its second annual National Center for Disability Entrepreneurship (NCDE) Virtual PitchFest Competition on Friday, November 19, presented by JPMorgan Chase & Co., 1:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m., EST in observance of National Entrepreneurship Month.
“NCDE was established to provide founders with a keen skill set and lead a movement to establish a business ecosystem for entrepreneurs with disabilities in the United States,” said John D. Kemp, President & CEO at The Viscardi Center. “The 2021 PitchFest will advance these goals by connecting aspiring founders with the opportunity to present to industry experts, secure funding and mentorships, and successfully launch their own businesses.”
Founders with disabilities from across the country will pitch their business ideas in front of a panel of exacting judges in a battle to benefit from $75,000 in equity-free grants and mentorship packages. This year’s Keynote Speakers are Major Jas Boothe, President & Founder of Final Salute Inc. and Chief Spirituality Officer of ANJA, LLC, and Jim Sinocchi, Managing Director & Head of Disability Inclusion at JPMorgan Chase & Co.
“We’re proud to sponsor this year’s PitchFest,” said Sinocchi. “People with disabilities are already hindered by limited access to affordable startup capital and a scarcity of programs and services tailored to their needs. Innovative initiatives like this are important because entrepreneurship is a viable self-employment option for individuals with disabilities.”
The PitchFest Competition is a product of NCDE’s mission to empower innovative self-starters to achieve self-employment success. The NCDE equalizes access to the entrepreneurial landscape for founders with disabilities through its skills building curriculum, subject matter experts, mentorship opportunities, Accelerator Fund, and the Competition, which elevates awareness of their businesses in front of a live, virtual, interactive audience. Visit our event page to learn more and save your spot.

I graduated with a BA in Anthropology. I wanted to
create a better world project that involved research and anthropology. In your
opinion, what are the 4 most problematic human social issues of our time? This
will be the survey question. I already have 10 respondents. In addition to
these 4 provided answers, respondents provide Age, State of Residence,
Single/Married Status, Sex. Privacy is assured through respondents providing
only initials as identifier. All responses are contained in research notebook
only I possess. My plan is to scale this as a better world project. Obtaining
enough responses would then lead to data collection and applications for
statistical analysis. Synthesizing this human research data through applied
methodologies would provide contemporary insights into what the active
community announces our societal problems to be. This research would result in
tangible product/report that could be used to inform influencers and decision
makers.
Motivation
This project is feasible to achieve during the onset of
COVID-19. I personally have career and academic interests in applied research.
This project would benefit the larger community and participants involved. The
respondent providing answers, and the persons being informed by the answers involved.
I plan on involving my chapter this better world project by asking them to
participate in survey, or volunteer to help me in executing the applied
anthropology research study involved. This will educate the community and my
chapter society members. This is an independent project that could be
sustainable. The survey respondents could live anywhere in the U.S. This make
the study and data nationwide. Respondents can reply with any 4 answers they
believe to be true according to opinion.
How many lives will your project impact?
Countless, this project is sustainable. No limit to how many
respondents could reply.

Define Project Success
I will know the project is successful when I have proved the
project's sustainability beyond the proposed timeline for this better world
project. I will generate a following on social media and receive press for
undertaking this project. I will have involved members of the society in
applied community anthropological research.
Potential Challenges
Monetary costs for media production are limited. Scaling the
project beyond just the respondents I personally myself could obtain through my
own participant appropriation efforts. Obtaining volunteers who will perform
their assigned roles through the projected 3 months. Outsourcing needed skills
that I do not possess for needed tasks. Time management; team coordination.

I received Quantitative Public Health Data Literacy Certificate from New York University - School of Global Public Health and the GrassROOTS Community Foundation. This free training was offered to the community and I enrolled. I completed the program having high honors with distinction. The provided instruction introduced participants to utilizing and working with openly accessible public health data information in both R and Stata statistical software applications. I have taken Statistics and Data Analysis, Statistics for the Social Sciences, Applied Statistics. But, this free instruction on how to work with data was totally different and I am grateful for the knowledge learned. Understanding data and information contained in databases is helpful for an anthropologist involved in research.
This anthropology conference will feature timely panel discussions moderated by faculty members, with current Anthropology Student Association member panelists highlighting their work. I, myself, Miguel Angel Davila, B.A., A.A. will be of the featured panelists presenting his work within this conference covering independent research in anthropology.
